Lauphie is a gorgeous little boy and approximately 4 or 5 years old. He loves belly rubs, people, and exploring is his favorite thing to do! He loves to snuggle, is crate trained and doing very well learning house rules. Lauphie is neutered, up to date on all vaccines and ready to find that perfect home.

The adoption fee is $300.

ADOPTABLE

Beakon has not had the best life so far, but that is about to change. He was found in North Carolina, emaciated and with pressure sores on all four ankles. His ideal weight is somewhere around 25 pounds. Even with what he went through, he loves people and wants so very much to please. Going by appearances, he's just your average boring colored middle sized mixed breed, but inside he is one of the best dogs ever! He is fantastic in his crate and when he comes out, he wants a quick hug before he shoots for the back door to be told he's a good boy. His most favorite thing in the world is his soft blanket. We believe he's between 5 and 7 years old. Beakon is neutered, chipped, and up to date on all vaccines.

The adoption fee is $300.

ADOPTABLE

Dorothy is a ten - twelve year old yorkie mix who is about as friendly as they come. She had several nastmammary tumors when she arrived here at the sanctuary, but has since had surgery and is due for the second surgery on the 12th. We believe little Dorothy deserves a pampered life. She weighs just 8 pounds and is now spayed and up to date on all vaccines.

The adoption fee is $300.

ADOPTABLE

Misty is a 10 year old Schnauzer mix. She came from an abusive situation and had a rather large mammary tumor that has since been removed. The results came back benign, and she has healed nicely. She gets along very well with the other dogs here. Misty attaches to her new owner quickly and has shown signs of possible separation anxiety. She seems ok at her fosters place even while he goes to work, but when he leaves her somewhere unfamiliar she does whine. Her new owners will need to reassure her that they are coming back, and with time her anxiety / fears should pass. She just loves being with someone! A house with someone home more than away would be ideal. Misty can be snippy and needs an owner with patience as she learns that humans won’t hurt her.

She is spayed and UTD on shots.

Adoption fee $300.

ADOPTABLE

Citgo is a young mixed breed found living on the streets in North Carolina. He weighs approximately 20 pounds and our guess is 6 - 8 years old. Citgo is friendly, absolutely loves being brushed and belly rubs! He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and patiently waiting for that devoted family to find him.

The adoption fee is $300.

ADOPTABLE

Jack is a terrier mix. Such a cute and scruffy looking little guy, weighing in just under 15 lbs. He arrived with the most serious flea infestation that our vet has ever seen. Jack is deaf and other than dry eye that is a hold over from matting and neglect, he is in good health. He is being treated with eye medications at Animal Eye Care in Richmond. Other than anemia from the fleas and ticks, his bloodwork came back strong, allowing him to be neutered.

Jack has a curious disposition and will come right up to strangers to get some attention. He will patiently wait until you give him some loving. Jack does not have any teeth, so soft food only for him. We were told he was 10, but our vet believes he is much older. Jack is deaf. After an apparently neglected life, we strongly feel that he deserves to be pampered for whatever time he has left. Love, a clean bed and some good food is all this little guy wishes for.

Adoption fee $300.

ADOPTABLE

Timmy arrived at Miko’s Sanctuary a hot mess with a pervasive flea infestation and testicular cancer. The massive tumor was removed and Timmy is now on the path to recovery. He was treated for fleas and his fur is growing back nicely on his back end. We were excited that the pathology report was positive reporting the margins were clear. His back is arched but he still gets around just fine.

Timmy is a sweet little guy, but does initially have trust issues. He barks at strangers, but we feel that part of his fear stems from him being in so much pain. Once he’s seen you a few times, he greets you with love. Timmy will need someone who is patient with him while he heals and learns to trust. He is 12 plus yrs old, up to date on vaccines and weighs 25 lbs.

The adoption fee is $300.

Niko

ADOPTABLE

Niko is a Miniature Pinscher / Chihuahua mix and is approximately 10 yrs old. She arrived needing to be spayed and with mammary tumors. The tumors have been removed and we were thrilled that pathology reported that all were benign. Sadly, during her surgery, a needle was discovered inside of her. After two professional opinions, it was decided to leave it there. Annual x-rays are recommended to make sure the needle has not moved. She doesn't show any signs of pain from it. She also had a dental in Niko has come a long way and is now in need of a family that will accept her for who she is. She is now spayed, chipped, and up to date on vaccines.

Adoption fee $300.

ADOPTABLE - SPECIAL NEEDS

Casper is a very gentle, tolerant and friendly dog once he has developed trust with someone. His tail wags and he gives you kisses when picked up. Please note that while he does allow us at the Sanctuary to pick him up, it will take time for him to feel comfortable enough to let someone else pick him up. Casper is a Shih Tzu mix. He is neutered, house trained and crate trained. Casper is about 10 years old and weighs 20 pounds. He has glaucoma and sadly is not a candidate for corrective surgery.

Casper self-soothes by walking in circles to calm himself down when he feels alone or in a strange environment. Music playing in the background helps him tremendously. Being blind, any sudden touch will scare him. Because of the extended warm-up time to get comfortable, we want to assure that Casper’s new home is quiet and stress free. We do not recommend a home with young children.

ADOPTABLE - SPECIAL NEEDS

Ciego is a 10 - 12 year old Chihuahua mix. Other than being blind, he is in good health. He loves everybody and especially loves when you talk to him. Ciego likes to explore. He does need patience while learning to find his way to the back door to potty. He isn’t a fan of the crate, but we have him in a indoor play yard and he enjoys that tremendously.

This fella is incredibly friendly and trusting. He loves to play! Squeaky toys are his favorite. He is good with the other dogs at the sanctuary and did very well with children at our adoption event.

Ciego is neutered and up to date on vaccines.
